I know every car enthusiast has gone to a car show and looked at the shine on the cars and said “I wish I could get my car to look like that”…Well, automotiverestorationtips.com is going to tell you how you too can have that wet look shine!!! Depending on the condition of your paint, its going to be a multi step process to make it look shiny and bright… So, the first thing you have to get out of your mind is that it will only take me 20 minutes to shine my car… After you do it right the first time, the second time will be a lot quicker…The process I’m going to tell you about should be done at least once every year to protect your paint from the elements…
The first thing you have to do is give your car a good cleaning. First hose off all the dust and dirt. Take some Windex and clean up any bird dodo, resist that temptation to scrub hard as the materials are coarse and can cause scratches. Just spray it on and very lightly dab and rinse… Make sure all the bugs that have been smashed into the car, especially the hood and roof , are cleaned off with a good Bug and Tar remover. After this is all done get a good reputable car wash and start from the roof down. Don’t overdue the car wash as it can leave a film on the car windows. Dry the car thoroughly… Now, the baggie test…get an ordinary sandwich bag (the thin kind) put your hand in the baggie and where you have sprayed a one step liquid wax such as Shine Boys WOW, rub your hand lightly over the paint… You’ll probably going to feel small bumps and defects… What this means is that your paint is contaminated with airborne contaminates that rob you of your shine… How do we fix that…one of the secrets to a show car shine is SHINE BOYS DETAILING CLAY… Detailing clay is one of the safest and most effective ways to clean paint… With automotive detailing clay there is no need to compound to remove overspray… Detailing clay leaves your vehicle feeling smooth and slick and ready for the next step…
POLISHING…. You’ve washed your car, you’ve clayed your car, now the next secret….. Polishing before waxing is the secret to attaining and maintaining that wet look, show room shine. Polishing is a through deep cleaning, exfoliating step that prepares the paint for protection… It removes oxidation, contaminants and old car wax that might have been missed in the first two steps… It minimizes minor swirl marks and scratches and helps enhance the color … Micro-fine fillers in the polish camouflage blemishes by settling into those small cracks and swirl marks…
WAXING….Now your ready to put that coat of wax on your car… This can be done by hand or orbital. But I would be very careful if using a high speed single pole car polisher/buffer as they generate heat and can burn your paint. This final step is to put a protective layer between the paint and the elements…The obvious reason to polish/wax your car is for great looks. This process will add depth and gloss to your finish…REMEMBER….A CLEAN CAR IS A HAPPY CAR………..DO IT RIGHT-MAKE IT SHINE BOYS BRIGHT…….Any questions just drop automotiverestorationtips.com an email and we’ll try to get it answered…….
